House on the hillside
It is characteristic of all architectural and interior design work that fitting into the environment is extremely important; the actual, material and visual connection with the outdoor spaces and the garden must be addressed. This was especially true for this project, as the view and the outlook are highly dominant, both in terms of how the house is approached and revealed, and in terms of the perspective from the living spaces looking out.
Our clients approached our office with a building permit design documentation. They had purchased the plot with a valid building permit. Regarding the plans, they felt that they were suitable for them, both in terms of form and layout—this was what they needed.
A strong rapport quickly developed between senior interior designer Kata Pallaghy and our clients. The young couple is about to start a family and plans to raise their children here. Through many conversations, it became clear which rooms, spaces, and spatial connections would be ideal for them, given the lifestyle, daily routines, and life situation they envision here, and which functions and solutions are most important to them. The interior spaces as planned had to be rearranged in order to realize the clients’ dreams (such as an island kitchen). The goal for the interior was to create a bright, clean space paired with many clever, hidden storage solutions.
The wine storage under the stairs, which is a temperature-controlled space, was an important feature.
As for the upstairs bathroom, the dream was to be able to fully enjoy the beautiful view while taking a bath. In the living room, a large bioethanol fireplace was installed, providing the cozy atmosphere of a real flame without the need for a chimney.
The implementation also went smoothly. According to feedback from the contractor, it was a pleasure to work from such detailed and well-thought-out plans. The final result reflects the positive and collaborative atmosphere, and our clients love their new home. Even afterward, they let us know how glad they were to have hired an interior designer. In their own words:
“Everything turned out just as we wanted. The greatest help was that everything was planned out in advance—the lighting plan, the wiring plan, the furniture plans… We also recommend to our friends that they should definitely consult an expert, an interior designer. It was incredibly valuable for us.”
